Welcome to the beginning of a new era in South African Mountain Biking! The Sabie Classic is 12 years old in 2010, the first one being held in 1999 with no sponsors and a shoestring budget, growing as it has, into the benchmark one-day MTB race on the South African Calendar. Sabie’s reputation as the ‘Mecca of Mountain Biking was founded in the early 1990’s, the Sabie Classic, in its day, was a ground breaking race, one of only a handful of endurance MTB events in SA and an immediate success. The Organisers are therefore thrilled to introduce MTN as the new principal sponsor, to lead the Sabie Classic on to bigger and better things and to cement its reputation as a legend in the world of Mountain Bike racing in Africa.
